What A Wretched Man Am I

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do...As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do - this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So I find this law at work: when I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my intervene I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man am I! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God-through Jesus Christ our Lord! (Romans 7:15, 17-25)

Jesus my Savior,
Rescue me from my wretched state.
Rescue me from this destructive pattern of sin.
Rescue me from the evil that surrounds me.
Rescue me from the things I hate.

Jesus my Lord,
Purify me from the sin of my past.
Convict me of the sin in my life.
Reveal the sin that lays before me.

Amen. Let it be.

Your Vision

Lord, show me Your vision for my life.

Countless times in my life You have had to shake me and wake me from my slumber. You were pursuing me long before I even recognized You.

Even after I was introduced to You I did not accept You as my Savior.

And even after I accepted You as my Savior and You covered me with Your mercy, love, and grace, I did not follow You.

Today, You are my Lord as well as my Savior. You are the One I seek and the One that I follow. Yet in the cloudiness of my life I struggle.

Today, open my eyes and lift the fog that surrounds me, clear my path and remove the obstacles that lie before me.

Amen, let it be.
